ZTE ZMAX PRO is $99 on MetroPCS and it has a fingerprint sensor

The hard grade of disbelief we give to budget phones out of China these days has to do with the fact that they have fingerprint sensors. Yeah, we know, kinda crazy. It takes a bit more than a few dollars, though, to not only get the component, but get it to work properly and in a decent fashion.

Nevertheless, phone after phone in China has made it happen. ZTE is making it happen in the US with the debut of the spiritual successor to the ZMax 2, the ZMax Pro for MetroPCS.

There’s a six-inch, full HD display with a Snapdragon 617 and 2GB of RAM. The main camera has 13 megapixels of resolution while the front has five. USB-C is in the mix along with, yes, the fingerprint sensor. All of this on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 3,400mAh battery (but only Quick Charge 2.0). 32GB of memory is on board with the option for up to 128GB more with a microSD card.

So, how much for this phone? It’s $99. MetroPCS has pre-registrations going on until July 31st with a free leather case.
