While there’s no disputing the benefits of a completely ad-free YouTube watching experience, no third-party apps or browser extensions needed, Google felt a little greedy and unreasonable to charge $10 a month just for that.

But YouTube Red isn’t all about canceling video interruptions, as it also includes a Play Music subscription at no additional costs, easy offline saving capabilities, and background play support for mobile device multitasking.

Plus, early service adopters will get to exclusively enjoy a trio of original movies produced by top YouTube content creators, as well as a new show starring PewDiePie from February 10. Netflix beware!

Of course, Scare PewDiePie doesn’t exactly sound like a strong Golden Globe rival for your House of Cards or Amazon’s Transparent, but given the huge 42 million or so fan base of its maker, it could seal the deal for many gaming enthusiasts on the fence about plunking down the cash.

A Trip to Unicorn Island, Dance Camp, and Lazer Team are the titles of the three feature-length YouTube Red Originals scheduled to have their e-premieres next Wednesday, the target audience decidedly skewing young.

The first will follow vlogger and comedian Lilly Singh, aka Superwoman, on a challenging 26-city global tour, the second comes from AwesomenessTV, a channel with more than 3 million subscribers, and the third is a fairly silly-sounding action-comedy co-produced by Rooster Teeth and Fullscreen Films.

Still not sure if all that is worth $120 a year? Then give it a whirl for a month for free, on Android, iOS or desktops.
