Even though many of us are still scratching our heads over YouTube Red, it doesn’t change the fact that you can still enjoy the same YouTube you always knew. Having people pay to avoid ads makes sense, but it’s not necessarily popular where the average audience is made out of teenagers sadly. Still, it seems Google’s recent update to YouTube envisioned more than just this change, and today we find that there was more functionality dug within.

Recent APK tear downs revealed that Google was also building rewind and fast forward functionality to its Android app. At the moment the feature works for some, and even though others do have the app update, it seems that Google needs to enable the functionality on their side of the server. The feature is fairly simple, where you’ll now notice a left and right button accompanying the play and pause button over the video to provide you with the functionality.

At this point it’s hard to predict how long it’ll take Google to deploy this to everyone, and by everyone we also mean iOS. Another probability to confirm is if this will work outside of YouTube Red, but we’ll keep you posted.
