Sony’s apparently in no big rush to release the Xperia Z4, with both CES and MWC having passed without sign of the expected flagship. And while we may end up waiting until close to summer before the the flagship debuts, that’s just afforded us more time to wait for the arrival of better and better Z4 leaks. Recently, the quality’s really been picking up, and earlier this month we had the opportunity to inspect some very nice comparison pics putting the Z3’s frame up against a supposed Z4 component. Today we move beyond individual parts to take a look at the fully assembled phone, upon the publication of what’s supposed to be an Xperia Z4 render.
Just like we saw with those frame comparisons, the Z4 appears to drop the flap-protected microSD and nano-SIM slots that used to live above the phone’s power button. The front-facer cutout appears to be a little larger than on the Z3, and it and the phone’s prox sensor swap places for the Z4, but other than that, this looks a heck of a lot like last fall’s model.
We also hear a little about hardware dimensions, offered here as 146.3 x 71.9 x 7.2mm. That places it as nearly exactly the same size as the Z3. All this new information hasn’t offered any update on a possible launch timeframe, and last we heard an announcement in May might be a possibility.
