In a sense, we have two struggling properties connecting a relay with this order. Xiaomi’s been trying to prop up its popularity in lieu of its next flagship while LG is still trying to plod on with its combined electronics ambitions. One bright spot we saw from its recent earnings report was in the displays unit fittingly enough. It’s been getting more orders and serving more customers.

Xiaomi and LG Display are reportedly finalizing negotiations for the former to receive OLED smartphone displays from the latter. Signatures will be inked by the end of the year with shipments starting calendar Q2. Xiaomi also bought LG-made displays back in 2014.

That Xiaomi Mi 5 won’t be getting these screens, it seems, but we’ll see more about that phone when the time comes.
