It doesn’t make sense to sell the Xiaomi Mi MIX phone to a wide audience. It just doesn’t. Why? It’s a concept phone. And with smartphone components that need risky processing and refinement like a ceramic body and a special display that takes up more than 91 percent of the device’s facade, it’s not surprising to see low yield rates.

It’s that reason that the word around Weibo is that Xiaomi won’t be able to produce more than 10,000 units per month.

While there might be a ton of hype surrounding this phone, especially in places where people won’t even have a chance to buy the darn thing, Xiaomi can’t be interested in driving up its sales marketing. But it still gets a lot of eyes-on attention.

So, what can it do with that capital? Sell a few Mi Boxes?
