It’s a bit sad to hear that XDA-Developers is closing a number of the old forums that many of the die-hard Windows Mobile users of the last decade had depended on for so long to communicate and collaborate on hacks and tweaks and custom ROMs that would make their powerful smartphones more powerful.  Many of these ancient forums do not have much activity anymore at all other than spam messages and XDA-developers.com has decided to make them read-only since there are only about 8 posts per month these days.  They’ll still be there in case you want to reference anything, it’s just that new posts are not being allowed so that the moderators can concentrate on more active sections.

The list of device forums that will be made read-only on September 5th is as follows:

  • HTC Pharos: P3470
  • HTC Rose: S740, S743
