Windows Phone multi-window support leaked in photos

Even though we’re still months away from the launch of Windows 10, the phone previews that we’ve received over the last few weeks have revealed a lot. Surely we know that there are other builds tested privately that promise more features, but it’s hard to predict when the Windows Insider program will shed some light. Still, today we land some leaks of new features coming to Windows Phone, but the aspect of the OS has us confused.

The leaked photos show us what seems to be multi-window support coming to Windows Phone, something that was very popular on Windows 8 for the desktop. Now, notice we said Windows Phone and not Windows 10, as the aspect of the tiles reveals Windows Phone 8.1, and not the Windows 10 that we know. The source claims that this is a Lumia 930 testing the feature, so it could just be that these are old photos of a test conducted in the past, or it could be that Microsoft is testing the feature under many Windows 10 UI scenarios. Apparently this feature will only work on Windows Phones with a 5-inch display or above as well.

Whatever the case may be, it would be awesome to see this feature come to Windows smartphones, but time will tell.

Update: Evidence points to this being little more than an independent concept design.
