Walmart Pay spreads nationwide to 4,600 stores

No one needs a reminder of how many mobile payment apps we have in this world. For some, like those on Windows 10 Mobile, they only have one they can even use. For others, the options just get plain ridiculous.

But as promised, it seems that big box retailer Walmart has followed up on its promise to spread its QR-based mobile payments method to all of its stores.

It officially announced that registers at over 4,600 stores across the United States can now take Walmart Pay. The payment method involves opening up the Walmart app, tapping into the Walmart Pay feature and lining up the payment terminal’s QR code within the phone’s camera’s viewfinder.

A pilot program at the company’s southern locations has seen rave reviews with 82 percent of users saying they would recommend it to others and a high user retention rate. Transactions have grown by 45 percent since last week. The Walmart app is available for both iOS and Android customers.

Now, if only we heard something new from rival Target.
