Voice controls for Google Play Music may be incoming

You can ask Google Now to play Prince’s “Purple Rain” for you on Google Play Music, but why not ask that app itself? Well, you still can’t do that just yet, but you may be able to if some XDA hounds have sniffed out the right target.

It stems from this errant microphone icon that appears. In some instances, it partially blocks the song info bar on the playback screen. Thing is, Maxr1998 was able to track the button to backend services that haven’t opened up yet.

Voice functions will be more useful when you’re connected to a Google Cast device in terms of basic playback functions. It’s going to serve you better when you want to search or play songs within Google Play’s entire library (which needs an internet connection, of course).

The XDA devs tore apart version 6.7.2713Z.2790541 to find this and it’s available on APKMirror right now.
