While today’s the day the OnePlus 3 gets its shine on, you might be surprised at who will pop up next in the value crunching sector.

Take a look at Vodafone UK’s new Smart Platinum 7, set to come to the carrier on June 20. It has a 5.5-inch quad HD screen all lit up with AMOLEDs, a 16-megapixel rear camera with an 8-megapixel front facer, a “powerful octa-core processor” 3GB of RAM, a 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, 32GB of storage Android Marshmallow and a Smart VR headset to boot.

The phone will go for £300 all at once or from £28 per month.

If this thing looks totally familiar to you, it’s because we think it looks like the Alcatel Idol 4s, too. Especially that back patterning. And indeed, the spec list sounds awfully similar, too.

Funny thing, though: the Smart Platinum 7 gets a fingerprint sensor on the back that the Idol 4s won’t have. Ah, the power of carriers to custom tailor their own-brand devices.

Last year, Vodafone released the Smart ultra 6, an analog to the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3.
