VNC Viewer for Android Now Available

Sometimes you need to access your home or work computer from a remote location — either that or stop everything and physically get back in front of that computer. Sometimes that is inconvenient, other times it’s all but impossible. For those times, remotely accessing that computer using your Android-powered smartphone over its data connection could save the day!

There are several ways that you can do this, but VNC is one of the more popular protocols since it’s cross-platform, and one solution can work on your Mac, PC, or even your Linux box.

“Following the success of VNC Viewer for iPhone and iPad, and staying true to our cross-platform roots, we have launched VNC Viewer for the Android platform,” said Dr Andy Harter, CEO at RealVNC. “Android users will now be able to access VNC remote control capabilities on their mobile or tablet device, in a way that is fast, simple and cost effective.”

The client application is available in the Market now. It’s not free, but for under US$10, it will easily pay for itself the first time you have to use it. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
