Verizon Wireless Droid Incredible Shortage Due to AMOLED Production Shortage
Based on its calculations, Verizon Wireless had anticipated to move twice the number of HTC Droid Incredible Android phones than it does now. The problem with not being able to sell the Android phones has to do with supply as there is demand for the HTC unit. The carrier is blaming supplies shortages, most notably shortage of the Samsung-made AMOLED display that’s employed on the device. The carrier disclosed its predicament at the Barclays Capital conference.
It seems that the AMOLED shortage could also be plaguing the AT&T version of the Google Nexus One as that phone is being listed as temporarily out of stock on Google’s website.
Online orders of the Droid Incredible via Verizon Wireless’ website will be fulfilled by mid-June at this time.
