Verizon trade-in event gives you up to $300 and three months of HBO Now for free

Can you believe there was a time, not too long ago, when Verizon was widely considered the stingiest of America’s big four carriers? Big Red’s clearly turned the page recently, with free data for early Android Pay adopters, a super-cool Gear S2 bundled in with GS7 pre-orders, and gratis LG 360 CAM chaperoning the G5 to market.

Today, the number one mobile operator stateside also revives its dormant trade-in program, letting folks interested in sizzling hot new handhelds like the Galaxy S7, LG G5, Motorola Droid Turbo 2, or iPhone 6s net nifty $300 discounts.

Technically, up to $300, though if you choose to discard a mint-condition first-gen Droid Turbo, Galaxy Note 5, GS6, S6 Edge, Edge+, HTC One M9, iPhone 6, 6 Plus, LG G4, or V10, you can easily qualify for $312 in account credit or on a gift card, both on and offline.

Even better, all trade-ins and upgrades to one of those four ultra-high-end devices are eligible for three months of no-charge HBO Now access. Prefer Netflix? Not this time of the year, as winter is coming, and so is the sixth season of “Game of Thrones.”

Typically, HBO Now subscriptions cost $15 a month, so you’re looking at an additional $45 in savings, with smartphone and tablet streaming of big show premieres available the same time as they air on TV. Let the trade-in games begin!
