Verizon prepaid Moto G4 Play with 2GB RAM and 4G LTE marked down to $65 at Best Buy

Unlocked is always better than on-contract or prepaid. But how much better? You can absolutely make do with a couple of strings attached when there’s an $85 discount in store.

$85 off a fairly recent $150 release, mind you, bringing the price of the Motorola Moto G4 Play all the way down to $64.99. Your only string attached is the obligation to sign up to a prepaid Verizon plan, which in turn guarantees you full 4G LTE support on the nation’s largest such network.

Of course, you could also opt for a “discounted”, unlocked, Prime-exclusive fourth-gen Moto G Play on Amazon, but that one’s still $100, with “lockscreen offers” and ads likely to annoy some even more than carrier restrictions.

For 65 bucks, Best Buy will hook you up both on and offline (though probably not for long) with a respectable 720p 5-incher running near-stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, heading for a 7.0 Nougat update soon enough, powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor and 2GB RAM, further packing a 2,800 mAh battery, 8/5MP cameras, as well as 16GB expandable storage space.

Pretty sick quality – pricing ratio, even compared to some of those sub-$100 Chinese soldiers US audiences have been coveting for so long.
