Verizon HTC One M7 getting Sense 6 update this week

One of the commitments HTC made with its 2013 flagship, the One M7, was that it would provide timely updates for the device, even carrier-bloated versions. It seems to be delivering fairly well, and though it has been about two months since the debut of Sense 6, we are now starting to see it trickle out to different One M7 variants (the first were the developer and unlocked versions, then the T-Mobile one). The latest one to grab the update is the Verizon variant, which is a bit of a shocker.

Verizon typically has been one of the slowest carriers out there in terms of updating their devices, so it definitely is quite pleasant to see them show some love, especially to older devices like the One M7.

The Sense 6 update brings a revamped camera app, changes to the BlinkFeed reader, a Sense TV app, and Extreme Power Saving Mode. The latter may be exclusive to the One M7’s older brother, the One M8, but we do not have an M7 unit available to verify this.

One M7 owners on AT&T and Sprint are also surely wondering where their updates are, and will pleased to know that HTC has handed those off to their respective carriers for certification. The same goes for the Verizon One max variant.

The AT&T One mini (the original one, not the mini 2) is also slated for an update, though that is currently in “Integration” over at HTC.

The Verizon One M7 update will be rolling out later this week.
