Twitter is synonymous with brevity, so it’s not entirely surprising that its creators have struggled with how best to bring an experience built around 140-character messages to larger tablet screens. It’s been a long time coming, but today Twitter for Android tablets has finally become available… for some users, at least.
The problem is that the new tablet Twitter has launched as an exclusive for the 2014 edition of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1. Pre-orders for the tablet got underway last month, but it’s taken until today for the hardware to actually arrive. Now that it’s here, this new look for Twitter can finally spread its wings.
Features include the ability to annotate images, an official Twitter widget, and support for Samsung’s Multi-Window View. The company says that the app “will come to other Android tablets by the end of the year,” and is clear that Samsung devices will be supported first, but when the day comes when we’re looking at non-Samsung models, features like that last one aren’t really going to matter so much.
Any of you tablet owners anxious to get your hands on this app, or have you already found a third-party solution you’re perfectly happy with?
