Our full Windows Phone 8.1 review — which, if you haven’t read, go ahead and check it out, it’s comprehensive — states: “while the People hub remains, it serves principally as a feed aggregator: Twitter and Facebook posts still show up within, but tapping on them takes you not to a custom People page but to the post within the appropriate app.

Microsoft pretty much removed the Facebook and Twitter integration from the People Hub, but, at the same time, allowed for applications to plug in to it. An example is the new Twitter Beta for Windows Phone 8.1 app — for Windows Phone 8.1 users only — which apparently brings back some of that integration, in addition to playing nicely with Cortana, as well as the Action Center.
