With over 1.5 million broadcasters and around 100M monthly visitors as of January 2015, live gaming-focused video watching platform Twitch has become a worldwide phenomenon, despite back in the day playing second fiddle to now defunct Justin.tv.
The Twitch.tv website is free for all PC users, no matter their OS of choice, and dedicated Android and iOS apps available as gratis downloads have undoubtedly helped build and expand the service’s great community of late.
Parent company Twitch Interactive seems to have understood even the future of hardcore computer gaming telecasting depends on mobile friendliness and growth, recently adding new multitasking functions for Android fans, and now doing pretty much the same as far as iOS users are concerned.
Specifically, iPad owners, who should look to update their Twitch apps as soon as possible in order to enjoy Split View, Picture in Picture, and Slide Over goodies. Do the add-ons sound familiar? Of course they do, since Apple introduced them not long ago for pre-loaded iPad apps, as well as a slew of compatible third-party titles with iOS 9.
What Twitch did was simply board the advanced multitasking bandwagon, adapt the aforementioned features, and allow you to also do something else while checking out the latest live-streamed Hearthstone session of your favorite gamer. For instance, you can be meta and engage in a quick Hearthstone battle yourself.
