Tiny Droid: Installing Android on the HP Veer (Video)

By Michael Fisher May 10, 2012, 9:02 am

Devotees of the webOS ecosystem learned long ago not to underestimate the power of a motivated homebrew community. It was grassroots efforts like webOS-Internals that unlocked the potential of the platform and earned the respect and endorsement of Palm, and later HP.

It should come as no surprise, then, that a group of similarly talented but differently motivated developers have come together for the common goal of altering yet another webOS device: the diminutive HP Veer. This time, though, their goal isn’t to modify webOS, but to replace it- with Android.

Fortunately, some of these sharp people took time out of their day to write some posts showing we regular types how to do it, too! Follow along in the video below as I take you through the ins and outs of putting Google’s OS on one of the smallest smartphones on the market. Will I succeed in clearing a path for everyone’s favorite cute green robot, or will my Veer succumb to the perils of an unstable Alpha build? Click below to find out!

Spoiler alert: the title image kind of gives this one away.

Fair warning: If you decide to attempt this, we assume no liability for your device crashing or burning, and we won’t be bringing you a beer to put the flames out. Dig?

Okay then. Enjoy!
