While a host of Android device manufacturers have new flagships in store for MWC early next year, BlackBerry is reportedly only prepping a Priv discount.

We have confirmed a pivot in BlackBerry’s choice of software platforms. BB10 might be still in the stable, but it seems as though with a few pieces of baggage and one device already out, it seems that the Canadian OEM is ready to continue its Android drive.
Nader Henein, one of BlackBerry’s regional advisors for advanced security has said that the Priv “wouldn’t be a once-off.”
“[The license to use Android] is too expensive and it is a mass market product,” Henein said.

Can we call the Priv a success just yet? Maybe not just yet. After all, we don’t dispute the power of real numbers and we have a lack of them right now. We also lack concrete evidence of a further BlackBerry push for the Android ecosystem, other than an all-points render.
Add this to the iffy picture pile as five GFXBench runs dated from November 7 have been logged with a test device called the “Blackberry STV100-1.”

BlackBerry is still committed to BB10 support, but given the recently-released, high-profile and high-in-demand Priv, you’d think that the company seems a little torn in its software development.
