The HTC Rhyme on Verizon is already on the list for an official Ice Cream Sandwich update but until then the carrier is keeping the wheels turning with an additional software update (not ICS).
The build will be bumped to 2.20.605.3 710RD and it will bring the following changes while you wait for your Ice Cream Sandwich treat:
Device Features - "Ringtones" has been replaced with "Edit Home" when the Menu key is pressed on the home screen. - Updated signal strength meter to 5 bar Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI). - Mobile networks no longer disabled when using [...]
So far, news about which Android handsets will be making the journey to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and which will be left behind to stagnate has largely been coming from the manufacturers themselves. Some, like Motorola, have detailed support pages up outlining which models should be seeing updates, and when. Other are content to release snippets of their progress on the likes of Twitter and Facebook. Today, though, that news is coming from a carrier, with Verizon publishing a list of devices on its network that are slated to receive Ice Cream Sandwich.
Verizon calls this a [...]
A little earlier this month, HTC updated us all on its plans for bringing its stable of Androids up to Ice Cream Sandwich, committing to the first updates arriving for Sensation-series models sometime during March. Today the company had even more Android 4.0 news to share, especially concerning its phones available on Verizon.
We already knew that HTC was planning to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Rezound on Verizon, but considering that handset’s current hardware specs, that’s hardly surprising. Today the manufacturer adds to that list of Verizon phones that are [...]
Last month, we turned to the streets to get some impressions of HTC’s Rhyme. Especially due to the unusual positioning the smartphone received, supposedly targeted towards sales directed at women, we wanted to see how the phone’s design and construction struck you. Perhaps by now, some of you have gone on to pick the Rhyme up for yourself; if so, be on the lookout for a new software update headed your way.
Verizon’s tipped the coming availability of the update on its support page for the phone, and an internal leak suggests it was ready to go out as of [...]
With the occasion of launching the Sensation XL in Taiwan, HTC has announced that the company already has two devices which have a special version of HTC Sync available, enabling users to sync with Apple’s iTunes.
The HTC Sensation XL joins the HTC Rhyme with added support for music synchronization with rival Apple’s iTunes software. The new version of HTC Sync, once downloaded and installed to a PC, can detect the presence of iTunes and achieve content synchronization. “We hope consumers will be able to store their music on HTC phones from any platform,” [...]
For the first time ever, HTC has made a device that just might be targeted towards the female demographic. And while HTC won’t admit that the HTC Rhyme is a phone for girls, we wanted to do a bit of our own research to determine whether a plum-colored phone would be more desired by women than men. In this video, I hit the streets of New Orleans to get some real answers on the matter. The results might surprise you.

With a 3.7″ WVGA Super LCD screen, plum color and lots of girly accessories, the Verizon HTC Rhyme comes with a soft, black docking station, a set of color-coordinated tangle-free earbuds, and a glowing charm.
