Check for updates on your Rezound as Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich build 3.14.605.12 is being officially rolled out.
HTC's site says that the Rezound's update is available as of today, but you wouldn't know that from checking with Verizon.
An Ice Cream Sandwich build -- 3.14.605.10 -- has been leaked for the Verizon HTC Rezound and is available for the brave among you.
Amazon is selling the RAZR Maxx for $150, the Rezound for $50, and the Droid 4 for a penny.
It appears that the RAZR's global roaming update will be integrated into its ICS update.
HTC’s been talking about which of its Androids would be seeing updates to Ice Cream Sandwich for some time now, so we’ve generally had a good idea for what to expect. We’ve already seen the company start delivering those updates to some of its lineup, leaving the question of just when it would get around to hitting the rest of them. To help with answers, the manufacturer has put together a convenient table, detailing just when it expects to make ICS available for those remaining devices.
It looks like the majority of phones that haven’t yet started [...]
The Droid 4, RAZR, RAZR Maxx, and Rezound will get global roaming updates this summer.
Verizon is now advertising a global roaming feature for some phones, suggesting the ability will be getting here soon.
Those of you who are rocking an HTC Rezound from Verizon and are power users probably know that there was no shortage of Ice Cream Sandwich leaks. The latest is version 3.14.605.5 with build date of April 28 and it brings some improvements (and some drawbacks).
First of all there are updated radios in the leak. Then there are your usual improvements (as reported) like the lock screen shortcut settings that are now separated from launcher bar shortcuts, 3G/4G icon displayed prior to entering decryption password, messages application wrong sender displayed on occasion and IPv6 [...]
“As the primary consumption of media moves to the smartphone, we have an opportunity to create a premium experience on that device.” That’s what Beats By Dr. Dre President and COO Luke Wood told the Wall St. Journal when HTC acquired a majority stake in the concern last August.
“This will give us opportunity to innovate,” said HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou in the same interview; “They really would like to deliver studio-like sound quality.”
Flash-forward to April 2012. Eight months later, the smartphone maker still owns the [...]
The contents of a purported internal Best Buy news posting were leaked last week, claiming that this week we’d see the OTA arrivals of Ice Cream Sandwich updates for a pair of smartphones on Verizon. First, the Motorola Droid RAZR’s update was supposed to start going out yesterday, followed by the HTC Rezound’s tomorrow. We noted yesterday that the RAZR rumors seemed to be unfounded, with no new software arriving and the company itself tweeting that it would have more info on the phone’s upgrade plans at a later date. That also started getting us concerned that [...]
Best Buy is really proving itself to be a font of rumors lately. Earlier today we looked at an email attributed to Best Buy which seemed to reveal the planned release date for the HTC One X on AT&T. Now we move from Windows Phone to Android-land, with a new source out of Best Buy suggesting that a few Verizon handsets are about to see the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich next week.
A little while back, we looked at a leaked ICS ROM that had become available for the HTC Rezound, showing progress since an earlier ROM that made it seem like the finished update was nearly [...]
There already was an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the HTC Rezound leaked at the beginning of the year but this one we’re telling you about now seems to be closer to the real deal, as it appears to be a release candidate (though not final).
According to reports it contains Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, added CMAS support, support for IPv6 over eHRPD, HTC Sense 3.6, added Caller Name ID app, updated VMM/BUA plus, and new storage UI in the Settings, plus a lot of other fixes. If you have a Rezound (which needs to be fully stock with and with a locked bootloader), follow the [...]
So far, news about which Android handsets will be making the journey to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and which will be left behind to stagnate has largely been coming from the manufacturers themselves. Some, like Motorola, have detailed support pages up outlining which models should be seeing updates, and when. Other are content to release snippets of their progress on the likes of Twitter and Facebook. Today, though, that news is coming from a carrier, with Verizon publishing a list of devices on its network that are slated to receive Ice Cream Sandwich.
Verizon calls this a [...]
As we start to get into mid-February, there are probably a lot of you out there wondering where all the Ice Cream Sandwich updates for your existing Android phones are. After all, weren’t we hoping to see these releases really start arriving in early 2012? The good news is that the wait is nearly over, at least for some HTC users. The smartphone manufacturer posted a message to Facebook this morning talking about plans for the delivery of its first Ice Cream Sandwich updates in March.
We already knew about HTC’s plans to start selling phones running Android 4.0 in [...]
If you like the HTC Rezound (and Verizon) enough to sign a contract then you will probably want to grab this opportunity! Instead of paying $199.99 for the smartphone from the carrier you could get it for $ 79.99 from Amazon Wireless.
The price requires you to sign a two-year contract but if you still want the phone but consider upgrading, it will set you back $159.99, which is still less than what Verizon is currently asking.
The HTC Rezound packs 3G/4G LTE connectivity, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4.3-inch Super LCD touchscreen with 720×1280 [...]
The HTC Rezound appears to have an additional radio which makes it a global roaming capable device, a world phone if you will. According to recent reports, turning off LTE, throwing in a GSM SIM card in the slot and doing a little tinkering brings up a new global option. Voice calls and data were enabled after a little bit of hacking but texts aren’t there just yet. They’ll probably make an appearance once the community follows the lead and plays some more with the device.
Verizon seems to be preparing an over-the-air update for the Rezound as its documentation was [...]
Owners of the HTC Rezound who feel adventurous and don’t mind tampering with their phones in a way that could void the warranty can head over to RootzWiki and download what seems to be an early build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the phone.
According to reports, it is Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC’s own Sense custom UI on top of it, in its 3.5 iteration. Be aware that initial reports are talking about various things not working in the ROM, reboots as well as watermarks on many screens. There should be another leaked ROM coming soon (and the official release [...]
Back in November HTC told its users about initial plans to deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich update to some of its devices. These were the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G.
HTC Turkey seems to have taken to Facebook a table (the one above) detailing devices that will get the new Android update as well as an approximate time for the roll-out process. Aside from a confirmed December 2011 date for the EVO 3D (which seems to be late), the list says January will be the month to expect the [...]
On Monday, we told you about HTC’s latest efforts towards its promise to its users that it would be providing the means to unlock its products’ bootloaders for those interested in doing so. To the list of devices already supported, the manufacturer added the EVO View 4G on Sprint and T-Mobile’s myTouch 4G Slide. While those were the only obvious changes, apparently HTC has quietly started unlocking the bootloaders for a couple additional models.
Owners of the HTC Vivid and Rezound have been posting reports of their success attempting to unlock their phones [...]
As we see a new crop of super high-resolution Android phones arrive to the market like the Galaxy Note, HTC Rezound, and Galaxy Nexus, there’s new potential to experiment with changing the pixel density to one that allows more data to fit on the screen at one time. You can do this as long as your phone is rooted. Using a free app like LCD Resolution, available on the Android Market, you can force your Android to use a variety of screen resolutions. While you might break certain stock applications, most other programs will work perfectly with the higher resolution.
With an impressive 720p HD Super LCD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Beats Audio branded headset, and the speed of Verizon’s 4G LTE network the HTC Rezound seems to have it all. The newest Android-powered smartphone to join Verizon’s lineup has some excellent specs, but will they all tie together to provide a suitable mobile experience? Read on for our final review of the HTC Rezound.
The HTC Rezound comes boxed in a black square with the iBeats headset inlayed to the right and left of the smartphone. Surely one of the greatest [...]
Looks like that November 14 rumored availability date for the HTC Rezound turned out to be true. The phone was announced on November 3 and you can now head over to the Verizon website to order your handset.
The HTC Rezound packs a 4.3-inche 720p screen, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal flash, a 16GB microSD card, eight-megapixel main camera, two-megapixel front-facer, LTE radio, HTC Sense 3.5 and comes bundled with a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. These should deliver high quality audio together with hardware and software optimizations HTC managed to [...]
