The smartwatch market is maturing, and as new players enter the game, and early competitors come back with more and more refined models, we’re witnessing the emergence of new product tiers. Those fall on both ends of the spectrum, and in addition to the arrival of high quality affordable models like the new ASUS ZenWatch 2, we’re also seeing interest in more luxury-focused models, with elegant designs and steep prices to match. Apple proved there’s a market for these wearables, and now other manufacturers are eager to get in on the action for themselves. We’ve been looking forward to just such a smartwatch from Tag Heuer, revealed all the way back in March as a premium Android Wear model. It’s still not quite here yet, but we’re finally picking up some specific details about just how the watch will arrive.

We previously heard that the Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01 would land sometime this fall, priced at just about $1400. Indeed, it’s still due this fall, but for slightly more than expected; Tag Heuer intends to fully reveal its smartwatch on November 9, with a launch price of $1800.

That immediately puts it out of reach of your average smartwatch user, but there’s very much a market for watches in this price range, and brands like Tag Heuer are betting that they can bridge the gap between shoppers looking for a luxury wearable, and those interested in one armed with the latest technology.
