Tablet shipments down 12.6 percent in Q3 2015, Apple still leads the pack
We’ve recently heard not one, but two bits testifying to the fact that Apple, the leading tablet vendor on the market, isn’t doing as well as some would have predicted, when it comes to the tablet market. Initially, we heard unconfirmed rumours that orders placed for the upcoming iPad Pro are cautious, then we heard reports that poor iPad sales are affecting the supply chain manufacturers.
Apparently, the issue is a larger one, affecting all players on the market. According to the most recent IDC numbers, the entire tablet market is down. For the third quarter of the year, tablet shipments plummeted, being down 12.6 percent, with 48.7 million units shipped. These numbers representing shipments testify to a trend, as lower shipments are now recorded for the fourth quarter in a row.
But what does this mean for your preferred tablet maker, and its position on the market? Well, Apple is still leading the pack with 20.3 percent share and 9.9 million units shipped in 3Q15, followed by Samsung and its 16.5 percent share, thanks to shipping 8 million units in the same period.
Lenovo, ASUS, and Huawei follow for third, fourth, and fifth spots, with their 6.3-, 4-, and 3.7 percents, respectively. Check out table below to visualise the current state of the tablet market. For more details, make sure to check out the source link.
