T-Mobile offers free LTE tablet, discounted iPad Air 2 and select Android phones for Valentine’s
The most generous, snarkiest, and also fastest-rising mobile operator when it comes to 4G LTE coverage strikes again for a limited time, bringing back a promotion that’s contributed to the survival of affordable Android tablets in several instances in the past.
Forget affordable, the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 7 is outright available for free from T-Mobile starting February 5, as long as maintaining a 1GB or higher postpaid Simple Choice Mobile Internet plan for two years isn’t a problem.
Technically, that means the Lollipop-powered 7-incher isn’t altogether free of charge, but what’s the use of buying an LTE-enabled slate if you don’t intend to consume at least 1 gig of T-Mo’s super-fast data?
Normally, the Pixi 7, which packs a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM, costs $168, the entire sum being taken care of by Magenta if you agree to uphold your part of the deal. Care for something with a little more pizazz, extra screen real estate, and iOS in lieu of Android? Through February 11, the iPad Air 2 can be yours at $50 off list prices, i.e. $580 in a 16GB configuration, $680 with 64GB storage space, or $780 when capable of accommodating 128GB digital content.
Interested in smartphones instead, perhaps slightly higher-end than the prepaid LG Leon or Samsung Galaxy Core Prime? The “Uncarrier” hooks you up too, with a $150 Galaxy Grand Prime (down from $190), $215 LG G Stylo ($75 instant savings), or half-off Samsung Galaxy S6, Note 5, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, LG G4 or V10.
In order to net the 50 percent reduction on those half a dozen Android beasts though, you’ll need to buy any one of them at full retail, then get a second one of equal or lower value. Sounds like perfect Valentine’s Day gift material to us.
