T-Mobile Opens LG DoublePlay Sales at $100

This past Monday, a leaked screenshot from an internal T-Mobile computer revealed some of the dates pertinent to the LG DoublePlay’s launch. While November 2 was given for the smartphone’s retail launch, the leak noted that phone and web sales may start today, on October 26. That bit, at least, has now been confirmed, with LG tweeting the phone’s availability, as well as an unexpected low price.

While the DoublePlay is not an Android powerhouse, its solid hardware specs and unique, if not gimmicky secondary display nestled in its slide-out QWERTY keyboard had us thinking that somewhere from $150 on up might be a sensible introductory price for the smartphone. Well, not only are online orders now open, but after all discounts and rebates add up, you can score the DoublePlay for just about $100.

Besides that fancy secondary screen, the DoublePlay has a main 3.5-incher, is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor, and has a five-megapixel camera. The secondary display measures-in at two inches and has touchscreen capabilities, letting you use it as a quick app launcher.
