T-Mobile’s been dancing around the Nokia Lumia 521 for months now. The carrier variant of the budget-priced Lumia 520, announced alongside the 720 back at the Mobile World Congress, is coming to T-Mobile at some point – that much, the carrier confirmed in February. At the time, it had nothing to say about availability other than that specifics would arrive “at a later date.” Since then, we’ve seen new pics of the 521 leak, and while T-Mobile has yet to get down into the details of just when you’ll finally be able to pick up a 521, it has finally set a launch window, confirming that sales will begin sometime next month.

In May, the 521 will go up for sale in T-Mobile stores, Microsoft stores, and Walmart locations. T-Mobile continues to keep pricing a secret, but since the basic idea of the Lumia 521 is to offer an affordable Windows Phone 8 handset, we can’t imagine it would be very expensive. At least, with T-Mobile’s new UNcarrier plans, we wouldn’t expect the down-payment on a 521 to top $50.

Some earlier roadmaps suggested that the 521 might hit T-Mobile before the end of April; clearly, that won’t be coming to pass.
