What’s T-Mobile planning for its July event?

T-Mobile has just started sending out press invites to a New York City event scheduled for July 10. As you can see above, the carrier boasts that some of its “boldest moves yet” are coming… but what does that mean?

Well, let’s think about what T-Mobile could be planning to announce. We just saw a leaked roadmap that showed a few things happening in the days following July 10. On July 14, there’s mention of a “major EIT release,” and rumor has it that this could mark the beginning of the second phase of the network’s “UNcarrier” plans.

A little later that week, on Wednesday, July 17, that roadmap marks the launch of the Xperia Z and Lumia 925. Now that’s a reason to get excited, and is definitely the sort of thing you could build an event around – or at least it would be, if it didn’t seem so after-the-fact. T-Mobile already announced the Xperia Z over a week ago, and it’s been public with its 925 plans for more than a month now.

We suppose it’s conceivable that it really wants to give this pair a little more time in the spotlight, but for the moment, it’s really hard to say with certainty what T-Mobile’s planning.
