Just as we suspected a tad earlier when T-Mobile teased the smartphone, Magenta has just announced the HTC-made myTouch 4G Slide, follow-up to the popular myTouch 4G from last year.

As the earlier video implied, T-Mobile is advertising the myTouch 4G Slide as having the “most advanced camera of any smartphone with zero shutter lag, backside illuminated sensor and additional premium digital camera features”. Sony Ericsson is constantly using a back illuminated sensor on its latest, Exmor R-enabled smartphones to dramatically reduce noise and increase noise sensitivity. It appears that HTC have mastered/licensed/bought the technology too.

The myTouch 4G Slide, aka the HTC Doubleshot, features a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, eight-megapixel camera with recording capability for 1080p videos, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and HTC Sense 3.0. Also on board is Swype and T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik.

The myTouch 4G Slide will be available exclusively from T-Mobile in July and will cost $199.99 given you sign a two-year contract with Magenta but given the specs and the looks that a pretty decent price especially if the usual retailer bargains will keep popping up!
