As expected, T-Mobile will officially launch VR-enabled Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 next week

It’s been an eternity in the making, rumored for several months, previewed by a slightly humbler Android variant way back at the Mobile World Congress, and pretty much leaked in full last week, then again yesterday, release date and price tag included this time around.

Finally, Microsoft, Alcatel and T-Mobile join hands today to formally announce the exclusive Magenta launch of the world’s first virtual reality-enabled Windows 10 smartphone on November 10.

The Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows shall cost $469.99, sold online and offline nationwide alongside Idol 4S VR goggles, a free 45-day Hulu Plus trial, 30-day Microsoft Groove subscription, and a complimentary copy of the Halo: Spartan Assault mobile game.

But basic in-box VR capabilities and accessories aren’t this bad boy’s lone selling point, with the “power and convenience of PC-like productivity” covered by Continuum support (dock, keyboard, mouse and monitor available separately), Windows Hello security facilitated by a fingerprint sensor, and many other standard high-end smartphones features in tow.

You have your powerful Snapdragon 820 processor, “brilliant” 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, “best in class” 21 and 8MP cameras, 3,000 mAh battery for “up to 20 hours of talk time”, Quick Charge 3.0 technology, USB Type-C connectivity, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, Hi-Fi audio, and last but not least, pre-loaded Windows 10 Mobile with access to Office apps, and “regular software updates direct from Microsoft.”
