We just got the details of the Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft, but with a new power users’ tablet comes a new keyboard. It came with the Surface Pro 3. Now, there’s a new Surface Pro Type Cover for the Pro 4 that won’t leave Pro 3 users behind.

Microsoft announced the new Surface Pro Type Cover that will be back-compatible for the Surface Pro 3. According to the company, it’s thinner, lighter and sturdier than the one that came with that device. The keys on the cover are backlit. There’s a new keyset which adds some travel between keys — about 1.3mm between each of them or a 19mm pitch (the horizontal spacing between key centers). Thanks to that keyset, the new precision glass trackpad is now 40 percent larger than the one on the Surface Pro 3’s Type Cover. There’s also a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello. All of this is fitted onto the cover’s scissor design.

It comes in your choice of red, black, dark turquoise, dark blue and light blue.
