Technically, Samsung isn’t suited (yet) to directly battle the likes of HTC (in partnership with Valve), Sony or Oculus when it comes to high-end VR hardware. In terms of virtual reality experiences however, the HTC Vive recently made headlines by supporting the world’s most immersive music record, as well as Fruit Ninja and a game called Front Defense, while the Gear VR countered with exclusive Olympics content, and now Suicide Squad X.
This looks just as cool as it sounds, allowing you to take part in the crazy action of the upcoming DC Comics-based Warner Bros. movie. Not only can you watch an outstandingly choreographed fight sequence from a very special point of view (as if you were floating above Deadshot and the gang), but the affordable VR goggles even let you join the scene as Margot Robbie’s maniacal Harley Quinn.
Sure, we’d have loved to get the option of embodying Jared Leto’s Joker too, but this is still one of the greatest VR-meets-Hollywood publicity stunts yet. Hopefully, the Comic-Con Suicide Squad X demos were just a small taste of what’s to come, namely an official, polished app due for a wide-scale launch alongside the actual film, on or around August 5.
