We’re just a couple weeks away from the release of the next entry in the Star Wars film saga, and to day that fans are excited might just be the understatement of the year. Businesses have been tapping into this enthusiasm through no shortage of their own tie-in promotions, with everyone looking to get a piece of those Star Wars marketing dollars. Today Verizon shares word of its own offer, and while we’re not getting anything as cool as a modern reincarnation of the old Droid R2-D2, it does have a pretty attractive freebie waiting for its users.

Verizon users can stop in one of the company’s stores today and pick up a free limited edition Google Cardboard viewer in one of four Star Wars character styles: BB-8, R2-D2, Kylo Ren, or a Stormtrooper.

At least, that’s how it’s supposed to work, but we’re already hearing reports of users running into conflicting information from stores: some are giving the Cardboard viewers away to any Verizon subscriber who shows up, while others are reportedly requiring shoppers to buy a new device to get their Star Wars viewer. Some seem to have jumped the gun entirely, and may have given their stocks away on Black Friday.

From the reaction on social media, it all sounds like a bit of a mess, so your best bet looks like it would be to call your local Verizon store first, verify they still have viewers left, and double check the details on how they’re giving them away.
