Sprint Says Pair of Windows Phone 8 Models Coming Soon

Sprint was keeping its distance from Windows Phone last year, but after some soul-searching around the holidays, it started off 2013 by enthusiastically confirming its support for Windows Phone 8, and announced that it would add such phones to its lineup sometime this summer. Well, now that spring is here, summer is next on our minds, so how are Sprint’s plans coming. So far, things are looking promising, as the carrier has just put up a new landing page for its future Windows Phone 8 offerings.

We also get the new detail that Sprint plans on ushering-in WP8 with a pair of smartphones. It hasn’t said anything about manufacturers or specific models yet, but there’s a chance that we could be seeing new hardware. After all, we heard one exec insist that this launch would feature “current” devices, and “not necessarily… six-month-old hardware.”

Now, maybe that will be a cheat, taking a Lumia 920 or something, tweaking the case, and calling it the 92X, not unlike what we’re hearing about Verizon and the 928. Still, it’s been long enough since the first wave of WP8 gear that maybe we will get something genuinely new.
