HTC One E8 lands in the US with carrier support

A couple weeks back we saw signs that the HTC One E8 – the plastic One M8 – was gearing-up to come to America, as Sprint posted a video to YouTube highlighting the smartphone. Problem was, there were no details about how or when sales might begin, and shortly thereafter Sprint pulled the video down. Did it get cold feet, or had that clip just gone live a little too early? Today we get our answers, with Sprint formally announcing the start of One E8 sales.

When talking about this earlier, we speculated about what pricing might look like for the One E8, especially if Sprint wanted to make it a more attractive option than the One M8 for shoppers on a budget. And sure enough, The E8’s going to be quite a bit more affordable, ultimately selling for just about $500, as opposed to the nearly $650 Sprint is asking for the One M8.

At least, that’s when you’re paying off the phone on an installment plan. The savings are a little less pronounced when looking at the subsidized on-contract price, where the E8 is about $100 on a two-year plan, versus the M8’s $200.

Do those savings make the E8 worth it for you, considering the phone’s high-end internals, or would you rather just pay a little more for all that pretty metal?
