Sprint: “Another Industry First” Coming on February 7th
Sprint is holding a press event February 7th in New York City to announce what it calls “yet another industry first.” Judging by the number of Android-specific sites which received the invitation, we’d imagine that the news pertains to Google’s mobile operating system. Teasing that it will show attendees “that the impossible is possible,” — “See what Sprint has up its sleave,” beckons the invite — the carrier has hired perennial self-promoting illusionist David Blaine to perform.
With no rumored Android handsets in the pipeline that we can think of (Sprint launched the HTC EVO Shift 4G at CES), it’s quite possible that we’re looking at a tablet here — maybe a WiMax-equipped Galaxy Tab, which could possible be the first 4G tab in the US depending on release. However, a 4G tablet doesn’t really sound “impossible,” so maybe we’re in for a refreshed set of pricing arrangements or a brand new type of service. Frankly, we’re stumped, so any suggestions/guesses are more than welcome.
