Microsoft has left rumors to fester on its commitment not only to its mobile software platform, but its mobile hardware line as well. As Lumia devices take a tumble in the price ladder and only Surface all-in-one PCs on the docket for launch next month, we figure this rumor would’ve come sooner.

An anonymous source from Microsoft told WinBeta that it is preparing to “end sales” of the Lumia 550, Lumia 650, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL in December. Those are all the smartphones that Microsoft is currently offering.

Whether that means production or actual sales, we’re not sure what to expect. The hope is that a Surface Phone will come in 2017. So far, Microsoft Direct of Engineering Laura Butler has left the idea of such a phone in purgatory, neither confirming nor denying the product’s development.
