“At a quick glance, you might think this is the Xperia Z1 or Z1S.” That’s how Anton D. Nagy kicks off the below hands-on video, and it’s easy to see why: the Xperia Z2 bears more than a passing resemblance to those earlier Sony flagships, with a glass sandwich construction, silver accents, and aluminum midplate broken up by the typical port covers for immersion resistance.
But there are a few improvements worth mentioning. The display has grown to 5.2 inches without a commensurate increase in bezel size; the processor underneath is a Snapdragon 801 running at 2.3GHz; and the 20.7MP camera now features an even larger sensor. The detail-oriented will be happy to see that the notification LED has been moved into the earpiece well (the same configuration as on the Z1 Compact) and those who value the latest software should rest easy: the Z2 will carry Android 4.4.2 KitKat when it starts shipping globally in March 2014.
We’ll have this one in our review labs soon; for now, enjoy the hands-on treatment from MWC 2014 and let us know what you think of the new Xperia Z2 in the comments below!
