We have little idea what exactly Sony will throw at consumers this IFA around, but among the rumored wares is the so-called Xperia XR (nee F8331), benched and tracked to sport some high-end hardcore hardware.

The XR make take the shape of one of the two new devices that Sony has submitted test documents to the FCC. Yes, one of them is a phone that has been tested for cellular low-band transmissions and is marked with WCDMA, GSM and LTE. The other device has a port layout (namely, Ethernet) that basically screams a gaming console.

That second device might be the “PlayStation 4 Neo” that may come out at a New York event on September 7. The Neo would compete with Microsoft’s Xbox One S with 4K content and may end up shipping the same time as its accompanying PlayStation VR headset.
