Samsung, Huawei, Acer, and now Sony. This fall’s consumer electronics-centric IFA trade show is shaping up to be as jam-packed and memorable for us mobile hardware junkies as CES back in January and February’s MWC.

In keeping with tradition, all major product announcements will likely take place ahead of the Berlin-set expo’s actual start on September 2, presumably including the oft-rumored Sony F8331 debut a day earlier.

The company that’s looking to further contract its US smartphone business while maximizing European sales has just confirmed the pre-IFA press conference shall begin in the capital of Germany at 1 PM local time five weeks from tomorrow.

But mum’s the word on exactly what’s coming, though history tells us Sony will typically bring an assortment of mobile, wearable, VR, audio and home entertainment devices to Berlin. Case in point, we saw the Xperia Z5 family, a new Walkman, some headphones, a 4K TV, and Project Morpheus, aka the PlayStation VR, showcased at IFA last year.

In 2014, the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact handhelds, the Z3 Tablet Compact, and the SmartWatch 3 stole the limelight. Up next, everything and anything’s possible. Wearable products, VR or AR prototypes, new TVs, and last but not least, a redesigned, jumbo-sized Xperia X derivation.
