Sony Ericsson Reveals PlayStation Suite and Store

We’ve heard a lot of buzz related to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (aka the PlayStation Phone) and today the manufacturer has revealed the PlayStation Suite (PS Suite), bringing the experience to Android devices.

PS Suite will be able to deliver PlayStation content to Android devices enlarging the user pool by lifting the software limitations to Sony Ericsson’s own devices. There will be a “PlayStation Certified” program for hardware manufacturers so you might be prepared to see some spec requirements as well as certification logos on some of the handsets that obey these.

There will also be a PlayStation Store on the software end to go with the PS Suite planned for this year. The Store will offer PlayStation quality games for Android devices and users will be able to download content directly. Even more, there will also be a new game development environment that should bring more evelopers to the platform as well as the concept, to complement the user experience.

Bottom line: you don’t have to own a PlayStation Phone in order to enjoy PS content. If your Android smartphone is powered by Google Android 2.3 or later, you will be able to get the PS experience without the need for a game controller. Pretty neat, but yet, another Android store in addition to the classic one and the one operated by nVidia.
