Sony may not be famous for its attempts in the US market lately, but we can’t deny that the company has adopted quite an aggressive strategy in building Android smartphones. Devices like the Xperia Z2 have proven that Sony has a ton of great stuff to offer, but obviously the company is not just after the higher-end portion of the market. Sony is also famous for some decent mid-to-low tier phones, and we get rumors of its next product.

Benchmarks now reveal the company working on a device, which is coded the D2403, and judging by its specifications, this does seem to be a device made to compete with the Moto G. We have a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an Adreno 305 GPU (which sounds like the Snapdragon 400 MSM8926), 1GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel rear camera, aside from a 0.3MP camera at the front. What makes this device compelling are the 16GB of built-in storage, which is quite a rarity on entry-level devices.

We should expect this device to run Android 4.4 KitKat, and who knows, maybe Sony will launch it in time to compete with the future iteration of the Moto G later this year.
