Skype Preview For Windows Phone 8 Available

The October 29 Windows Phone 8 event didn’t only bring us the platform, the known devices, and a mystery ATIV Odyssey appearance which we’ve recently learned about, but also the announcement of a totally new Skype variant for Windows Phone 8. Compared to older versions (running on Windows Phone 7), the new flavor is capable of running in the background with deep integration with the OS.

Skype call notifications are similar to incoming voice calls and there is also lock screen notification support, aside from the app staying memory-resident for instant notification on calls, messages, and more. Those eager to get their hands on with the app should should follow the Windows Store link below. However, watch out for that disclaimer that says: “this is a preview release, experiences are not yet final”.
