We’ve still got a week to go before Apple makes its next iPhone models official, but it’s hardly controversial at this point to suggest that two new iPhones are on the way, the handsets we’ve been following as the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The rumors about this year’s iPhones haven’t always been so sure of themselves, though, and just a few months back rumors about a new flagship iPhone and the introduction of some sort of budget iPhone were also joined by those of a much larger than usual iPhone. There was talk of an iPhone “Math” (or, more likely, an “iPhone+” that ran into some translation issues), but as the 5S and 5C rumors heated up, that idea sort of fell by the wayside. Today, it’s back on our minds, as The Wall Street Journal claims to have heard from its sources about a jumbo-sized iPhone in testing.

Unlike some of the rumors from earlier this year, which were looking at sizes in the upper-four-inch range, this new report says that Apple’s been testing iPhone models with screens up to six inches in size.

That makes it sound like Apple’s still feeling-out the design of this iPhone and hasn’t committed to any one size just yet.

The only thing this claim is clear about is that a larger iPhone won’t be on the agenda for the forthcoming launch – not that anyone was really considering that a possibility. The WSJ claims that a full story on this info will be available soon, so perhaps some new details will emerge then.
