Siri Will Help You Buy Movie Tickets In iOS 6.1

We’ve just seen Apple’s new iOS 6.0.1 update arrive largely as a collection of bugfixes, especially those focusing on the iPhone 5. Beyond that news, we also learned that Apple was seeding the iOS 6.1 beta to its developer community. Details on just what would be new for iOS 6.1 have been sparse, and all we had to go on last week were claims of new map-related search abilities. Now, the full story on iOS 6.1 continues to get fleshed out, upon us hearing about new features like Siri helping you purchase movie tickets.

Asking Siri to find you tickets to a film will pull up a list of upcoming showtimes, as well as displaying theaters supporting online purchases. Siri doesn’t handle everything itself, though, and the actual transaction is passed on to the iOS Fandango app.

According to developers who have played with this feature, support is only available in the US, and as we noted, not all theaters are compatible with this system.

With any luck, we’ll be hearing a lot more about new iOS 6.1 features in the coming weeks.
