UpdateAn earlier version of this story claimed that the beta would be opened up to all HTC devices. It is open to all Android devices with optimal experiences available to devices with Android Lollipop.

Most of the devices running Sense UI version 8 happen to be the HTC 10. The few that aren’t are other HTC devices that were selected at random to get a beta version of Sense 8.

Well, the beta’s been running for several weeks now and it seems like it’s about to be opened up for everyone. Like, everyone, everyone.

The company is requesting that users uninstall version 8.01.785474, re-install version 8.01.788149 from their respective app stores and redirect feedback from the HTC feedback tool to the Play Store. We assume the beta will be publicly announced not too long from this post.

You can get into future beta versions of Sense Home by going into its Play Store page and scrolling all the way to the bottom of it. Hit that “Join Beta” button and you’ll be on board.

HTC getting out of the way of software updates by off-loading its own launcher developments to the Play Store is definitely an interesting process to watch. And porting that experience to LG/BLU/Micromax/etc. users is almost mind-boggling.
