Your smartphone can charge itself with this self charging smartphone case

By Anton D. Nagy July 15, 2015, 5:04 am

Smartphones are becoming more and more capable, but, sadly, the same can not be said about battery technology. While devices are faster, have larger screens and resolution, thinner cases, battery life is a major issue. While there are several solutions for countering that, they all require an accessory that, most of the times, has to be also charged. What you choose to extend your battery life is up to you.

With this self charging smartphone case, your phone will be able to charge itself. Up on Kickstarted, Nikola Labs’ case (for the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6) will be able to capture energy wasted by your smartphone, and reuse it, by charging your device. In a nutshell, your smartphone is consuming a lot of energy while making a phone call, browsing the web (generally, while connected to cell towers or WiFi routers). This case captures part of the dissipated energy and sends it back to the battery. While it will not top off your battery, it will definitely manage to slow down depletion, adding extra hours to your device’s uptime.
