Two ingenious, evil suspects are on the run from authorities after having successfully made $5,200 in illicit Apple Watch returns. And that may be just a part of their racket.

One thief made a return of a shrink-wrapped Apple Watch box at a San Diego-area Target store. He got $300 for the transaction and the product was restocked. When the box was opened days later, it was found to contain a water bottle and paper towels.

Law enforcement believe they have been able to tie the duo to false Apple Watch returns in 10 cities between Nevada and California since January 28 with a total gain of $5,200. The two may have legitimately bought Apple Watches, resold them, then stuffed and resealed the boxes.

One suspect is a black man, about 5 feet 11 inches and 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The other suspect is a black man, about 5 feet 9 inches and 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is offering $1,000 for tips leading to the suspects’ capture. Click on the source link if you think you can help out.
