All this CEO hunt for Microsoft has turned into quite the soap opera, but recent claims from Bloomberg follow on the recent news that we heard yesterday. It seems that Microsoft’s board has reached a decision, or should we say a couple of decisions, and these are quite dramatic.

First of all, Bloomberg points to Satya Nadella as the Microsoft’s next CEO. Nadella has been in Microsoft for 20 years, has been heavily involved in products like Office and Bing, and is currently focused more on Microsoft’s consumer products and also its cloud computing business. Now one of the shocking parts of this report is that Bill Gates could possibly step down as Microsoft’s Chairman of the board, and John Thompson might replace him.

All that said, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal are both claiming that Microsoft hasn’t reached a decision, and that next week’s possible announcement is still not set in stone, so at this point it’s hard to predict where the news will lead in the next couple of days. It’s great news to learn that Microsoft will name a new CEO soon, but to drop Bill Gates as the company’s chairman would be a huge mistake in our opinion.
